To: Josef Borisovich
From: Roxanne Hall
Date: 6 June
Subject: ProjectorHi Josef,
I was at JVS Electronics yesterday. I tested the Micronti projector that you recommended we use for our presentations at next month’s shareholders’ meeting in Berlin. I found its size to be so compact that I can store it in my carry-on baggage and that it can display crisp images. Moreover, I like how the device can stream online contents anywhere through Wi-Fi or mobile network. Unfortunately, when the projector is placed more than 1.5 meters away from a flat surface, the pictures become faint and lack contrast. Thus, the presentations we want to show would not be big enough for everyone in the audience to see clearly.
Thank you for your suggestion, but even at this low price, I cannot say that this projector will meet our needs. For our forthcoming trip, I believe we should just stick with what we already have.

News from Utica
Botanical GardensUTICA (January 14)—People coming to Utica Botanical Gardens are now greeted by a vibrant new logo mounted on the entry gate. Most visitors say they really like the new logo, which prominently displays a colorful bouquet of tropical flowers. __[1]__
The administration of the botanical gardens chose to replace the old logo based on feedback from the public. “We gathered opinion cards deposited in boxes around the gardens and also examined the results of an online survey. __[2]__ We discovered that the response to the old logo was not positive anymore,” said Christian Crowe, the manager of the gardens, when he was interviewed by the Utica Herald. The original logo featured the name of the gardens under a sketch of an intricate old-style greenhouse.
All new designs were submitted by Allen Graphic Design. __[3]__ Members were then invited to vote on the one which would make the best logo. The management thought that the members made an exceptional selection.
Emma Shea, a sales clerk at the gardens’ on-site souvenir shop, is one of those pleased with the new logo chosen by members. __[4]__ The new design is now featured on mugs, T-shirts and other products, and she believes it will surely help increase sales. “In the past, I was frequently disappointed. While many visitors came into the store, most left without buying anything. They didn’t find our imprinted merchandise appealing.”

The Long Journey to the Banjo Box
SANTA TERESA (July 22)—This Monday, local banjo maker Kimberly Jackson realizes a lifelong dream of opening her own banjo store. Situated at 839 Bird Street, the Banjo Box has been a work in progress for several years.
Just days after her twentieth birthday, a young Ms. Jackson won a silver medal in the woodworking class at the Albuquerque Festival in Albuquerque, New Mexico. The bedside cabinet she built featured elaborate inlay work that impressed both the judges and a famed Albuquerque string instrument designer, Enrique Espina, who presented her with an apprenticeship in his workshop, Nuevo Music.
This traineeship opportunity enabled Ms. Jackson to combine her woodworking abilities with another passion—music. “I grew up playing the banjo, so I was thrilled with the chance to learn how to create my own musical instruments,” stated Ms. Jackson. It was during the apprenticeship that she came up with special inlay techniques, which involve inserting thinly cut bits of wood into banjo fretboards and bodies to produce fine decorative patterns on banjos.
Since then, Ms. Jackson has spent three years honing her craft and selling her banjos to local musical instrument stores. As the Banjo Box will be open for business this Monday, her banjos will now only be sold here and at banjobox.net. The Bird Street shop will also house a studio and a classroom for music lessons. Guests at next week’s grand opening will be treated to demonstrations of inlay work and banjo building methods.

Sent: July 30Dear Kimberly,
Thank you for forwarding me the link to the Santa Teresa Chronicle article about the opening of your banjo store. I’m happy that you have fulfilled this great goal. Since meeting you for the first time at our workshop a long while ago, I recognized your special talent for crafting musical instruments. I’ve seen some of the pieces that you have recently made from images on the Internet, and their quality is superior indeed. You’ve come such a long way. Enrique and I are honored to have been a part of your journey.
We are thinking about going to Santa Teresa for the Super Strings Fair in October. If so, we will make a point of dropping by your new shop.

Customer Review

Date: March 15
Product: Dinette Design Micro SofaI bought a new Dinette Design Micro Sofa from Maylin Brothers Furniture during their spring sale, and I’m enjoying it so far. It’s classy and comfortable, and the grass print looks fantastic in my living room. However, there was only one small issue in the purchasing process. The sales assistant consulted his sales sheet and mentioned that the piece’s width was 205 cm. I was worried that it might be too wide for my room. Fortunately, while weighing my options, the sales manager happened to walk by, and she rectified the error by referring to details from an updated product information sheet. In spite of this minor slip, I favorably recommend both the sofa and the shop.
